Vehicle Magnet Care:
Before affixing the magnet to a metal surface, be sure all surface paints, clear coats and waxes are cured or hardened. Approximate curing times are: paint – 90 days, wax – 2 days.
1. Cleaning:
It is important to clean the vehicle’s surface and back of the magnet before application. A clean vehicle will prevent your magnet from slipping off your vehicle at high speeds. Clean the metallic surface and the magnet with a mild detergent, wipe with a soft cloth, and allow to fully dry.
2. Positioning & Attaching Vehicle Magnets
Attach your magnets to a smooth metal surface that is as flat as possible. The surface should be free of trim, moldings, indentations, dents, ridges, or rust spots. Affix one corner of the sign first, then allow the magnetic pull to attach the rest. Be sure the entire sign is flat against the surface with no air pockets. Make sure that your magnets are firmly affixed to the vehicle before driving. If the magnet has air pockets, bumps, bent corners and/or edges, the magnets will fall off the vehicle while driving.
3. Repositioning Vehicle Magnets
If you position your magnet incorrectly and want to adjust the location of the magnet, remove the magnet completely and reposition it by lifting from the sides to remove it; do not remove from the corners. Use the same methods from the previous step (Step 2. Positioning & Attaching Vehicle Magnets) to reapply the magnet in the desired location. Please Note: Sliding the magnet into position may cause stretching and/or scratching.
4. Cleaning Vehicle Magnets
Remove the magnets from the vehicle before you clean the magnets. Do NOT go through an automatic car wash with the magnets still attached to your vehicle. This will damage the magnets, vehicle and possibly the car wash. The high water pressure, cleaning chemicals, and brushes will tear, fade, and damage your magnets beyond repair. Use mild soap and water to clean your magnets. You may use cleaning products like Windex to help remove small smudges and stains. Make sure to also clean the metal the magnet is applied to. Not cleaning the surface of the metal could result in not having good contact. This means the magnet could fall off the vehicle. Make sure the vehicle and magnets are completely dry before reapplying the magnets.
5. Storing Vehicle Magnets
Keep your magnets clean and in a dry place when not using them. Store magnets by stacking them on a flat surface. Please Note: Do not store magnets with heavy objects on top of the magnets. This will cause permanent creases and/or deep cuts. Do not store your magnets in a rolled state. If the magnets are rolled during storage, the magnets will not lay flat on a vehicle. Never fold a magnet. Filing cabinets and refrigerators are perfect for storing magnets.
Please Note: Magnets can become stiff in cold weather or locations and may not properly grip the vehicle panels. Please use caution when using your magnets in these conditions.
Please Note: These magnets are not for use under water or on aircraft. Using these magnets underwater will cause them to fall off and be lost in the water. These magnets are not strong enough to hold onto aircraft during flight; they WILL fall off.
Please Note: Magnets will not work on Imron paint, vehicles with non-magnetic body panels (such as fiberglass), nonferrous metals like aluminum, vehicles that have been repaired with Bondo, simulated wood-grain siding, or vehicles that have been painted numerous times.
